Exactly the same issue and the same time for me too. Just a little way out from Peterborough here.

Mailed support, although don't think there up this late.

BT Issue?
Sept 22nd 2011, IDNet 8mb ADSL max. Draytek vigor 100 & a Soekris net4801.

I'm north of Peterborough with exactly the same issue, I've checked BTs planned works for tonight and there are plenty but my STD code does not appear on the list.

If it's BT work there's a whole host of area codes due to clear by 07.00, mine was back by 05.00 looking at my TBB ping chart.

My connection went down at just after midnight and is still down this morning

I think the above relates to Maiku and myself perhaps others as well.

Anyone else, all last nights BT work is reported as cleared, if still no connection suggest disconnect for 30 mins and try to reconnect again and if this fails contact support.

Well I'm not in Milton Keynes, I'm in Swindon but I am on FTTC.

Strangely last time there was an outage it effect Swindon and MK at the same time.

Well the fault does say 'route' via Milton Keynes, sorry I've no idea which way Swindon routes

I'm in Milton Keynes, and have only just come back online.  Strangely, I couldn't log in to IDNetters initially, as it kept saying that my password was wrong (which it wasn't, since I tried it numerous times, and then checked my paperwork where I'd originally written it down....and it was perfectly correct!).  Anyway, had to reset it this morning.

I don't have access to any other means of connecting to the internet, so am usually pleased when I can ring the IDNet telephone line, and hear an answerphone message telling me that the problem is basically not isolated to me, so that at least I know it will be fixed within a certain timescale.  However, I tried the answerphone, but there was no message about the problem in Milton Keynes on there.  Would IDNet have known about the problem before this morning?  For antiquated people such as myself, an answerphone message goes a long way to putting my mind at ease!

This appears to be a BT fault not expected overnight maintenance,it was reported to support at 01.00 via an earlier poster. However there are now details on the IDNet status pages of the fault, the earlier information came via AAISP and I quote their latest comment


" So, summary, around midnoght all lines via Milton Keynes RASs went down, around 5am the 20CN lines cae back and around 07:30 the 21CN lines came back. Looks like most lines have reconnected now."

Mind you they are not perfect either as they can't spell >:D Or they access their status pages from a mobile phone :evil:

According to the BT they didn't detect it until just before 07.00 and put the duration of the fault down as 1hr 16 mins which seems a tad strange for those people who had no connection overnight. There's no hope if BT can't detect their own faults.

I think in hindsight as more information becomes available there was work done on Milton Keynes last night and I guess the published affected STD code list was incomplete, 20CN came up on completion and the fault was raised when the 21CN lines failed to re connect when the maintenance ended.

You can put money on it being down to stats. If they don't report a longer period of downtime, they don't have to do anything which would cost them more money.

According to the router log mine went down at 00:24:57 and came back at 08:32:21. Fortunately I had an early night last night, so didn't notice until I saw a big red splodge on the BQM this morning!

So it seems that South Oxon (FTTC at least) routes via Milton Keynes :dunno:

Whilst 20CN routing is completely different. Every day, I am increasingly reminded by events just how fragile the 21CN network is, and how a single fault can take out swathes of the country. I'm sure members in NI, Scotland and parts of the NE & NW will agree when they consider the issues they've suffered as a result of the Edinburgh node failure.
