Sony has been hacked again and is hosting a live phishing site on its servers, according to security company F-Secure.

The security firm said the latest hack had nothing to do with the ongoing Sony PlayStation Network woes, but nonetheless represented more security troubles for the electonics giant.

"We know you're not supposed to kick someone when they are already down ... but we just found a live phishing site running on one of Sony's servers," said Mikko Hypponen, chief research officer at F-Secure, in a post on the company blog.

"Basically this means that Sony has been hacked, again. Although in this case the server is probably not very important."

They were bound to be bombarded with hacks after going live, and no matter what you do, there is always a way in it seems, its just pathetic now  :swoon:
Damned, if you do damned if you don't

Rik

Measure and counter-measure, Gary, it's a kind of war now.

Does make me wonder about their network topology and security configuration though.

They are well guarded against a DDOS (when visiting playstation.com the IP resolves to Prolexic who provide a DDOS mitigation and traffic filtering service) but I wonder if they stored personal information on frontend servers instead of on backend with a firewall inbetween or maybe the firewall was missing)

It does look like Sony didn't know an awful lot about network security and I'll bet heads will roll in Japan.

AFAIK is it not also the America side of the company with these troubles? So just CEOs rolling out of the door then.

More bowing to come then. ;)

From seeing both Sony and Toyota's CEOs apologise I do tend to think they are more genuine.

I've not seen any bankers here get down and beg for forgiveness or even in the States.
