Does anyone know if it is possible to alter the filtering on the new idnet.com email addresses, I am finding that I am not receiving emails from any contacts with AOL email addresses, they are ending up in the junk folder when I check on the webmail page  ???

The only thing I can think of is to add them to the address book in the webmail interface. It's a bit tedious and I can't be sure it will work, but it may be worth trying. Maybe giving support a ring on Monday will reveal another answer.

Thanks Lance, I've now done that and will see what happens  ;)

If that doesn't work, email Simon with the headers of any 'trapped' mail. I've actually had one forum 'alert' stopped by the spam filter. :)

Thanks Rik, I think I will have to do that it is still trapping the messages even though I've added them to my contacts, strange that it is only messages from people with AOL email addys though.

Edit: have now sent an email to IDnet and will see what they come up with

Certain domains get flagged by spam software, Ray, which is why I advise letting IDNet know. AOL is quite common, NTL was for a while, and when I was with Nildram, I couldn't send messages to people on NTL. Spam filters are always a bit of a blunt instrument when they are not under the control of the recipient, imo.

I had one yesterday from a BT account of my friend, but because it only contained a URL the webmail filter put it into the junk mail folder.

Let Simon know, Glenn. They are still tuning the spam engine. AOL addresses have now been unblocked (I hope you can confirm that, Ray?).

I dont seem to be able to get in to set up an email addy this morning, anyone else have the same problem? Log into my account ok but the email setup seems unavailable.

Rik

This seems to be happening at weekends, just checked and can't get in myself. I'll drop support an email. :(

Thanks Rik, as long as its not just me ;-)

I'm in no great rush so I will try again Monday.

Cheers

Hi Mike

I think that there is an issue with the server. During the week, it gets noticed and sorted before any of us pick up on it. At weekends, that doesn't happen, so we see the problem.

I'm a great believer in conspiracy theories. ;)

As long as thats not the mail server :o

Mail seems to be getting through ok so it is just the setup bit thats broken.

Thanks again.

Rik

The mail server is fine, Mike, it's just the setup bit that plays up. I think it gets lonely at weekends, so sulks until it gets some attention. :)
