Baz

does any one have their own web site that they have built themselves.

My daughter is looking to do one for her art work and we are looking for decent software or any sites that have build facilities so she can do it her self.

in case it makes a difference,  :dunno:  she has a Mac now  but still uses laptops for some things.

thanks

forgot to add to that do IDNet have hosting facilities and what would the (dot) name be if they did

Ray

This is my personal site, Baz, I used Serif WebPlus X5 to create it.

Baz

how is it to use Ray

Ray

Not that difficult, Baz, as they supply you with a selection of templates and you can download further free ones from their website all of which can be customised and adapted as required. I used their 'Pro Gallery' template and adapted it to suit my needs for my site, obviously you can also start your site from scratch and design everything yourself which is more work, if you wish, though not difficult as everything is WYSIWYG and there is no coding involved.

My business site is : http://www.paulparadise.co.uk

I use all sorts of programs when building sites.

Dreamweaver CS5
Netbeans 7
Aptana Studio 3
E-text editor
Notepad++

I would also suggest getting a cheap host as if you change ISP you will still have the hosting, I can host for a small yearly fee  ;)

I agree, a cheap host with your own .com is a better option than using you ISP's free space and it shouldn't cost you any more than £50 a year.

Wordpress might provide a solution for building the actual site. It's also free, fairly easy to use and usually installable from your host's cPanel.

For example this site created in Wordpress provides a showcase for artwork: http://mediamilitia.com/

Has she had a look at the iWeb software which comes with the Mac, it's good for basic sights and for novices like myself.
