I've just been asked by a new Windows 7 user where minimised windows "go" and how to restore them, as they are apparently not in the taskbar.  :dunno:

It sounds like they have multiple windows open and when they minimise a specific window it's combining with others and they assume it's disappeared.

Right click on the Taskbar, click "properties", then where it says "Taskbar buttons" change it to "Never combine".

Next time they minimise a window it will appear in the taskbar.

Else hover over the combined list to get the erm, list.
So if you have like 20 fire fox windows and 2 word documents, you only get 2 icons/tabs/windows in the task bar. It's great IMO. Just hover over FF for the 20 FF windows or Word for the 2 word documents.  :dunno:
I use to have a signature, then it all changed to chip and pin.

I think they were saying they weren't getting any buttons in the taskbar, but I've yet to hear back again.

Depending on the programme being minimised, it might hide in the system tray next to the clock.

Oh, yep. Forgot about that. Things like Steam even do it now. :P

Yeah, I didn't like that system tray layout when I saw it, all bunched together like that.   I think I'd want to change that back to the 'usual' type.
