Hi,

I recently bought a 2700 from eBay to see how it plays with our line long. It has come with f/w 4.25.33, and I was wondering what my best options were for upgrading.

From what I'm reading, the preferred 5.29.117.6 isn't available.  :(

What would be the best direction to go in to at least get WPA2 encryption?

MisterW

5.29.107.12 & 5.29.107.19 are generally available and both support WPA2. I'm still running 5.29.107.12 without any problems. Check your hardware version here http://bt2700hgv.tripod.com/002.htm to see what firmware is supported. I'd be inclined to start with 5.29.107.12 first and see how it goes. The Singtel v5 firmware has a higher target SNR ( 8db as against the normal 6db ) so will give a slightly lower synch speed on most lines.

Thanks for that - will go have a play.  :thumb:

Got the firmware up and running.  8-)

Could I please ask whether I really need to poison the DNS as suggested in this setup guide for single SSID routers:-\

MisterW

The DNS poisoning never really worked, since the internal updating s/w bypassed the DNS resolve table. The only way to prevent upgrades is to change the ACS URL as described here http://bt2700hgv.tripod.com/032.htm. However I don't believe its really necessary on 5.29.107.12 since, by default, that is set to the 'old' provisioning servers which no longer exist, and thus it will not be updated.
