For once, it's fine here.

It seems to be an issue with many phones unable to register with the nearby mast, it's not related to any specific region of the country i.e. it's nationwide.

It will give their RAN engineers something to do.  ;)

No problems today with O2 but I didn't have a signal for over 8 hours yesterday... maybe this was the sign of the problems today  ???

Glenn

Can't check the link at the moment, the BBC website is down, as reported on Volcano Live - BBC2

This a bit of a worry for me. My 17 year old daughter is travelling to Spain and we lost contact with her earlier today. She's gone to see Florence and the Machine at the Benicàssim music festival. Unfortunately we've just found out that Florence has pulled out due to illness >:(

My experience with teenagers travelling away from home - is no news is good news , not that it makes it any easier sometimes.

Yeah, that's a fair point and at least I have no way of delivering the bad news. She will be gutted.

There's a lot else to listen to though, it's a very comprehensive list. Plus it will be warm, sunny and no rain. Incidentally one of our cleaners lads has gone to the same festival.

It's certainly a very diverse list of artists. I was really tempted to go myself to see Bob Dylan as I've never seen him live. I could have got a guest pass as a friend is playing on the same day but my daughter wasn't having any of it for some strange reason ;D

I'm somewhat disappointed myself, I think I may have enjoyed it as long as I was not camping.

The current status is that the O2 2G service should be working.  3G is still not working in all cases.

Still no service here but my neighbour who is also on O2 hasn't had any issues. I did however receive a text in the middle of the night (3.30am) from my solicitor so something got though. It's really odd, my phone searches for a network, finds it and then promptly disconnects and starts searching again. I've tried to contact my provider, Tesco Mobile but they have been engaged since 8.00am.

My wife's phone on O2 (iPhone) has not been affected in the same location. I've turned 3G off on mine and I do have a service which I didn't yesterday.

That's exactly what Tesco Mobile suggested, to switch off 3G. I finally got through on the land line after nearly an hour of trying. According to their latest information which they received from O2 less than an hour ago, they have been working on the problem all night but there is no time frame for a fix.

QuoteThousands of O2 customers are unable to use their mobile phones for a second day after overnight repair teams failed to fix a fault with the network.

The problems first developed yesterday afternoon at around 1pm and O2 cannot say exactly how many of its 23 million customers are affected.

Customers reported problems with making and receiving phone calls and text messages as well as accessing data services such as the internet.

An O2 spokesperson said overnight: "We can confirm that the problem with our mobile service is due to a fault with one of our network systems, which has meant some mobile phone numbers are not registering correctly on our network.

"We, and our central supplier, have deployed all possible resources and are working through the night to restore service as soon as possible."

[EDIT] It's being blamed on a data center issue preventing sim cards registering on the o2 network. At least that's what's being reported.

My phone is still going through the same cycle as I mentioned above and I have just reset it. I'm not convinced that it's fixed but I hope that it is.

[EDIT] This seems fairly acurate:

QuoteNo timescale has been given for when the network will be fully back up and running.

In a message published at 08:00 GMT on its network status site, O2 said: "We can confirm that our 2G network service has now been restored. Customers who were affected should now be able to make and receive calls.

"Our 3G service is starting to restore and customers should expect to see a gradual return of data services as the day progresses.

"Customers affected may wish to try switching their mobile phones off and on as service returns."

So fixed but not quite working yet ;D

They are telling people to switch off data services and use 2G only.

Still no problems here, but oddly, I had a similar issue over the last two to three weeks, which they said was a local mast fault.
