Hmmm, this is the update that brings in the new map app I believe? I'm rather found of the current version, we've come to rely on it somewhat. I hope the new version proves to be as useful :-\

I assume that relates to the same thing.

Me! The new map app seems pretty cool to me, voice directed routing bye bye TomTom as a company. Obviously wait for more balanced reviews if Google maps is important to you.

New maps seem great, all in all a good update so far.  :thumb:
Damned, if you do damned if you don't

Simon

Well, it's downloaded and installed.  Nothing radically different as far as I can tell just yet.  At least you can move that Passbook thingy into a folder, unlike bloody Newsstand.

I'm trying to work out why the top of the messaging and mail apps look different.  Was that top bar there before, or is it just a different colour now?

Also, it makes you sign up for an iCloud account, but this can be deleted in Settings > iCloud.  I assume this is safe to do?

I guess it's safe to remove the iCloud account details - it's just a sign in 'Apple ID'. I like the phone privacy options, and the new mail - check new mail finger swipe.

I just skipped that part and the phone started, the I just added my username to the appstore and iTunes section. I like the do not disturb setting for night time use. Yes Simon its changed colour. Loads of changes like when you share a picture etc. Panorama is camera is great too. App store is very different.

Unless its just mine, the maps satellite view is very poor.

Steve, by 'phone privacy options', do you mean the Do Not Disturb thing?

Same here although at the current rate of progress I won't be done until the morning!

I like the full screen mode in Safari.  Browsing seems snappier too.

Don't like the YouTube app, which you have to download from the App Store.  Too clunky and not easy to save Favourites.   .

My download failed after a couple of hours. I'll try again tomorrow.

I finally managed to get the update done in a couple of minutes. I'm really not sure if I like the new map app or not. The route planner suggestions don't seem to be particular good which is surprising if they are in league with TomTom. I do like the visual instructions though. Everything else looks pretty much the same to me.

I agree, not the same resolution for some areas that you get with google.

Safari is definitely snappier, even on 3G.  Not sure I like the new design of the music and phone apps.  Seems to lack distinction, with too much white.  Seems like a change for changes sake to me, as the apps themselves seem to be the same.

Same on my Ipod, Simon, seems there are few other problems with it as well: -
