Server 2003 and IIS and proxies

Hi,
Right then, I'll list what I'm doing then if you can try and help, please?
I'm running a Compaq ML370 G1 server in my garage, running server 2K3 as a web and file server.
I'm struggling my nuts off trying to get IIS with FP extentions running. I've managed one site by pure fluke, the others just ain't right.
Can anyone recommend a good book?

Also can anyone recommend a way to view the sites on the net, I've tried Box of prox and some proxy servers, but they take forever or don't work
Is there a way to configure my hardware / software to do this?
Hardware:
Separate modem with router and NAT fire wall, router not used
D Link 8 port switch
Netgear wireless router, used as access point only
I've got a PCI modem with I could fire in the server, if that would work better?

They all work fine on intranet!
