Last year, faulty 1TB Seagate drives living in 21.5-inch and 27-inch iMacs purchased between May and July of 2011 were at the heart of Apple's HDD replacement program. Now, Cupertino has extended the initiative to encompass rigs sold between October 2009 and July 2011. Customers with an affected iMac are eligible to receive a free drive until April 12, 2013 or for three years after their desktop's original purchase date.

I wonder if it was just a ruse to get hold of Googles/Microsofts/Samsungs design ideas? Well, we all know they secretly use iMacs in the offices. http://gradly.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/20110511_macbook_pro_users_at_google_io_2011_image_004.jpg
Oh, I thought Apple took the original drive back.

(Said in jest)

Nice to see they offer good customer service. It's not about never making a mistake, but fixing or committing to fix the ones there are.

I just hope they fix my map app ;)

My map app works fine for along the south coast where I live, suits me fine, also nice not to have to keep downloading maps as with the Google system.  :)

I've only used it in anger once, to drive from North London to Canterbury. I'd previously done the journey once using Google maps which worked well. One of the problems I had with the Apple version was I found it simply refused to to show any map data at all for a large portion of the route. I assumed it was unable to download the data? Another issue was the suggested route doubled back on itself and when we deviated from that route it lost our position relative to the map and had us sailing down the Thames. I also could not read some of the road numbers and names.

Apple  rushed it with this app but they are using Tom Tom's mapping so it should be better, then again when Google Maps started out it wasn't much good, time will tell, and hopefully it will get better.

I think the difference was though, people could choose not to use Google.

I'm sure it will. Apple are usually pretty good at fixing things that aren't up to standard.

Are you suggesting they can't choose to use them?

Hey, it's ok. I'd joke about Google too when they make mistakes... except I can't on the forum, cos they are watching, and might get me! ;) (They know everything the internet passes through their systems!  :eek4: )
