My ipad keeps timing out eventually at 33 hours. Id wait till tomorrow is you get that message.
Damned, if you do damned if you don't

Steve

I think it's pretty pointless worrying  about it tonight, you may get the download but then fail to verify. I have the file for the iPad but the server is too busy to verify.

That's happening on my iPad Steve, it's downloaded but won't verify. Think I will now leave it until tomorrow.

Must be alot of iOS people on IDnet updating.....

Steve

You've only got to look here - http://www.lonap.net/mrtg/lonap-total.html the city's gone home but look at the level of Internet traffic. The Uk's links cannot cope as they failed to do 2 years ago.

Looking on the bright side we're half way there! I'll modify my previous comment maybe it's Apple servers that can't cope as well, although would that show as packet loss on the TBBQM which I assume is the saturation of IDNets peering arrangements. I suppose it could if we were all in affect performing a DOS attack on Apple's servers.

I had no problem getting it installed which is a first as I usually end up doing it days later. The only problem is I'm currently too busy to look at it.

Gary

Both iPad and iPhone updated, after playing for a few hours I like it, its different but I like it better than iOS6 when you get it set up how you like and avoid dynamic backgrounds it gives more contrast. All working ok here and quite pleased.

Mine's done, and God, it's horrible.  :ack:  There's no contrast, everything is shades of white, and text is difficult to read (although, the bold setting is an improvement).  The icons look sh*t.  Folders have a horrid grey background, the clock on the Lock screen is too big, and while the new Control Centre is a good idea, there's no customisation as to what shortcuts you can have in there.  I was hoping for a shortcut to Call Forwarding, as I use that, on and off, all the time, and you have to go through three or four screens to get to it.  i was also hoping for a 3G on / off switch, as it's quite flaky in my area, and sometimes I need to turn it off to make a call.  Unless there's a setting I haven't found yet. this feature is quite a let down.  The only good thing I've found on it, as yet, is the ability to block phone numbers, so hopefully I can block those bloody automated PPI calls.  All in all, on first impressions, give me iOS6 back!    :bawl:

Oh, and the Siri voice now sounds like it's got a cold.  I thought you could change the voices, but haven't found how to do so yet.

I guess not everyone likes it but give it a while and before long you start forgetting what iOS6 looked like, well I have I find it refreshing and its easy to read, then again I do use glasses as I'm blind as a bat when it comes to reading and using a phone these days.   ;D Do not track in safari is a useful addition

Siri has to download info from servers the the voice gets better, new iPhones sound like that for a day then change And you can turn 3G off Simon. Settings Cellular enable/Disable 3G. Call forwarding is Settings >phone > call forwarding, that's quite easy. Swiping up to remove apps running in the backgroud is good too also great for zipping between apps.

Yes, the 3G and phone settings are where they were before, Gary, which is why I'd hoped they could be moved to the Control Centre, but yet again, Apple thinks it knows best and doesn't allow the user to customise anything.

It's a big change graphically and although I prefer the previous look I'll reserve judgement until I've properly checked out the functionality. It does appear though that the iPhone 4 doesn't benefit from some of the more graphically intensive stuff which does diminish the wow factor by quite a bit.

If I don't like the functionality I'll buy an HTC One otherwise I'll probably keep this phone for another year.

you can't put call forwarding on the main menu on Justinas Andoid either Simon. I'll double check that but I'm sure you can't. Android is very customisable but not down to such find grained levels as that I don't think. Settings are still tucked away a bit last time I looked. For me as I don't use those settings it's not a big deal. Tbh they are not that hard to get to but I see your point. Anyway bed time for me. Liking the new safari on the ipad I must admit. :) nighty night.

At the moment I'd say it's growing on me and I suspect iOS6 is going to look very dated very quickly. The compass is superb, a work of art. Not that I have a use for it but I might have to find one ;D The multitasking screen which I found by accident and assume is new is also really nice. I think it's going to be a lot better than many of the previews suggested.

I would agree the multi tasking feature is much better, it's obviously a radical change and takes you out of your comfort zone for awhile. I'm finding the keyboard on the iPad much more accurate for myself.
