I'm having a lot of problems connecting to various services including my servers and various websites tonight. It's been going on for a few hours and I can see from other IDNet BQMs others are starting to have the same issue.

Although it doesn't look like anything much, I have latency measured in minutes to many (but not all) sites situated outside the U.K. e.g.

I'm really surprised nobody else has report this here as I can see I'm not the only one affected.

Behaving badly for me too. For example I can't get to ancestry.co.uk. I thought it was just me then decided to check in here. glad I did - thanks for posting

Simon

I have to admit, my connection has been sh*te in general tonight, but it was worse trying to access non-UK based sites.  I gave up trying to get in here about half an hour ago, though, and have currently resorted to 3G.

It's hit and miss. BTW I think ancestry is hosted in the US despite being .co.uk. I also had to re-login on here to post again. Things are really acting weirdly. Time to call it a night I think  :(

I can see that whatever the issue was it's just been fixed. Hopefully it'll stay fixed. Thanks for the confirmations :thumb:

Seems to b the same pattern as before, the packetloss stops at midnight of there abouts and all returns to normal, Zap. Have a look at here http://craigswebsites.co.uk/ping/

I just wonder if it's the same (intermittent ) issue as before: a business user hogging bandwidth doing many updates simultaneously? That's just the nature of the business: we get the benefit of a business-class service, with the odd business-class problem, I suppose.  ??? The competition for the most part segregate their business users, have massive capacity or manage pro-actively, with the economies of scale or prices to match.

I did think of that, but then are we getting the benefits of business class BB if we get the short stick so to speak  :-\

It's worth keeping an eye on and I for one have missed the odd Premier League game I wouldn't have minded watching. ;)

I remember when all you needed to watch TV was an aerial.  ;)  (And a TV, of course).

I'd take a guess that last night's issue was a problem with one of the peering partners and separate from the packet loss issue. I had full throughput from a speed test I conducted at the time but most of the web was still unreachable. Hopefully that was a one off. As for the packet loss, that's creeping back but it's not had any noticeable impact on me as yet.

Support say packet loss is nothing in their network and is probably a peering point although they will monitor it...time will tell I guess. I am fed up of the constant niggles at the moment tbh.

Nope the patches tend to be staggered a bit as not everyone updates at the same time.
