Story on El Reg

It seems they are once again talking about Fibre To The Home (and no, not All Bran flakes!). Personally, I think they should be talking higher than 50mb, because if they were to implement such a scheme for £4billion, then I can't see them upgrading the network again for at least another 150 years!

It should have been done years ago.

Unfortunately, they will cater for the masses,  like others, people in rural locations will be further isolated.
Anything and everything that I post on here is purely my opinion, it ain't going to change the world, you are under no obligation to agree with me, it is purely my expressed opinion.

Afaik, BT have ruled out fibre to the home, instead they are opting for fibre to the street. What troubles me is that they are presuming what bandwidth we shall need. Given this country's history of planning for the future, I can't help but feel that by the time they implement FTTS, it will be redundant. :( IAC, FTTS is almost certainly of benefit to them in their plans for 21CN.
