Anyone noticing problems with IDNetters

I've noticed the forum being a bit sluggish this morning, sometimes taking several seconds to respond to a clicked link.

I am also seeing some smileys, particularly the evil banana  :evilb:, freezing (frozen at the time of writing). Jill, otoh, has seen her avatar freeze while I am seeing it animated.

Anyone else noticing anything like this?

Over the last few weeks there have been lots of visits where links, pages, message centre have been very slow,a couple of times I gave up waiting.

No problems here Rik, all working fine, I use FF. ;)

Thanks, Dorset and Inactive. Anyone else?

I noticed a problem on Sunday with pages being extremely slow loading and was noticing freezing smilies yesterday as well - I am using FF

Thanks, Ray. Do you remain permanently logged in, or do you logout at the end of each session. I am in the first camp, so just tried logging out, clearing the FF cache, then logging back in. That cured the animation problem (perhaps coincidentally) but not the sluggishness.

The problem is not browser or OS specific,I have used Opera,Firefox ,IE7 and Konqueror browsers and XP Pro,PCLinuxOS and PC-BSD OS's.

You are looking at server/database issues.

Ray

Rik, I usually stay permanently logged in - just noticed the red banana has gone on strike again was working OK about 30 mins ago

Same here, Ray, in both respects. Thanks.

That was my thinking, Dorset, but I was looking to check what others are seeing.

Easiest check I have found is to leave your browser open when you encounter a problem like this, press Ctrl+F5 together, this clears your cookies and cache,if the problem goes away it was  your end causing the problem,if the fault persists or returns straight off then it is server side.

Noreen

I haven't seen any problems and the red banana in your first post is dancing away, I stay logged in.

Unfortunately, the evil banana seems to have a mind of its own.  ::)

Yep, seems very sluggish over the past few days especially. I login, browse, Mark all messages read then logout on each visit. I'd be inclined to agree with Dorset. Could it also be partially caused by the number of avatars and smilies on the posts, especially those located off-site?

Rob.

Rik

Adam will have to answer your question, Rob, but the fact that the evil banana is freezing seems to suggest an internal problem. The other thing I've been wondering about is Google Analyticals.

Hmm wasn't really a question, just a thought. Anyway, with avatars switched off in preferences, it does seem a whole lot quicker to load pages. I'm also a bit of an old fart and have ad-blocked most of the off-site smilies (imagebucket stuff) but as I did that a while ago, I can't say if that causes the speed problem. As far as google-analytics goes, I have that permanently blocked across all sites using noscript, so that isn't causing the issue for me. Hope this helps a bit.

Rob

EDIT: oops forgot, I don't display sigs either :)

Rik

Thanks, Rob, the more information we can gather, the easier it out to be to pinpoint the problem. Incidentally, I found that noscript appeared to slow things down...

So how come you use an avatar then Rob? ;)

I havn't noticed any problems whatsoever, it all works fine for me.

I reckon you lot need to get electrickery and do away with those steam powered routers.  ;D ;D
