Best guide for getting started with Debian

I've rented a VPS running Debian as am going to set up a nameserver using BIND.

Found this https://debian-handbook.info/browse/stable/ but are there any better guides for getting to grips with Debian?

What is it you actually want to do? Bind isn't the easiest thing to set up.

Full disclosure... I'm pm@debian.org and have the (mis)fortune to maintain logrotate amongst other things.

Hi Mitch,

Debian is fairly generic and many of the procedures apply equally well to Debian and other Ubuntu type distros. The package management being the main difference although not too dissimilar. I can't actually recommend a specific book but quite often find this guide to the command line useful. "Beginning the Linux Command Line 2nd ed. 2015 Edition"

I'm starting to lay the groundwork for something I intend to turn into a business, although I will manage domains via a control panel normally, I'm trying to equip myself with the knowledge to fx things if something bizarre happens.

Depends on the complexity of the problem, of course. If it's a simple one, bind might be overkill.
