Windows 10 Fall update

Hi all, Has anyone else updated today and how have you got on with this major update?

All seems well here and running very smooth indeed.

Can't say I've noticed much difference, but I did have a huge update over the weekend, resulting in an hour long reboot.

Just try looking at System information to see if you have Windows 10 version 1709

No update for me. I only have Win 10 Pro version 1703.

Just run an update check and it should download.

I've done that Glenn but it says my computer is already up to date. I'm not too bothered about it as it's bound to come in eventually.

biggest difference have found is that diskcleanup now seems to be working correctly, ie removing temp and temp internet files,not sure if it was a cleanup issue or an issue with windows 10 still showing files needing cleaning after they were gone as folders always showed as being empty,even with hidden and system files showing

Depends on where in the world you are,download upgrade assistant and you will get it straight away wherever you are

I understand that the March update created huge problems with internet connections for many people. My computers weren't affected but I know of some that were.

Mine's just updated to 1709 which is a bit of a swizz since it's now the end of October. Shouldn't it be 1710?

I've too relatively new windows machines both less than 6 months old, the laptop a HP x360 Fall Creators broke the Windows Hello so I've rolled it back for the time being until an updated driver for the camera becomes available. The Desktop however was more problematic, the update crashed on install although the roll back was successful on multiple occasions, onwards to the Microsoft media creation tool which at first couldn't decide between the M2 SSD C: drive and the USB install disk, with a bit of a faff it then installed but placed the EFI partition on another drive.

All eventually sorted with disabling all other drives in BIOS and using the command tool that comes with the bootable windows install media to 'clean' the disk first prior to install.

Perhaps I'm a bit rusty after the simplicity of updates with MacOS over the last 7 years. However I like windows 10 even though it's just cost me a day of my life.

A day? Gosh, if I counted up the hours I've been sitting waiting for my computer to do something, I reckon it must have cost me weeks!

So today my PC insisted on installing an update for Adobe Flash which I don't have installed (I know this because I keep getting told I don't have it installed) and at the same time 1709 appears as if by magic

The only difference I can see is it's dumped a 'people' icon on my task bar which is a waste of pixels because I don't have any and there's also a warning about an incoming 'Windows feature update'.

That warning, or more correctly that notification implied that I might want to delay the install because its monumental size might tie up my PC for the rest of year. I just threw caution to the wind and told it to go ahead. A minute later it had installed a new version of Flash (the application I didn't want but got anyway last time) and nothing else. Yet again my PC reports as being up-to-date.

I sense a comedy script at play here...

I suspect I may have to do a full re-install of windows 7 for an old customer/neighbour at some point, as their PC has upgraded to 10... and if it ever breaks the sole reason for it to exist, to make BR disks in Pinnicale, then there will be fire and brimstone on all those who pushed it out to people!
