The internet just broke?

After not playing online games for a few years... I've got into a car one (but car football! I'm not interested in races. :D Don't ask! ;) ). However, just now noticed the servers were down. A quick look and the post on their site suggests it is a "global internet problem", and Akamai seems to suggest their network is down too. So did someone crash a sub into a pacific cable? Or some hungry sharks?  :o
I use to have a signature, then it all changed to chip and pin.

Seems it's over with now. :)

Only a few sites/services effected, but mainly USA.
