I have been having problems with my connection dropping for no obvious reason. I thought it was a line issue, support say it looks like noise.

I've just been fiddling with faceplate and using an old style splitter instead when looking at DSLStats I realised that the Modem Uptime hasn't changed, just the AS Uptime gone back to 0.

So I assume that what is actually happening is that the modem is rebooting as I don't know what other situation would cause the Modem Uptime to 0 itself.

This problem only started in August/September, I've had no other real problems since starting with iDnet in October/November last year.

I have found that Billion have released a firmware update 2.52.d10 (I'm still on d1) which amongst other things addresses "Fix Reboot Issue" which is referenced in a couple of threads on their forum.

The bit that I am unsure of is that they advise to reset with factory settings after update and reconfigure manually.

I have a backup of the config file, but what I do not know is how far off factory standard the Billion supplied by iDnet actually is.

Any guidance on this would be appreciated please.

the 2.52 d10 firmware is a little buggy, best firmware at mo is 2.50a d13:-all 2.52 firmware is causing a few issues but best of the bunch was  2.52 d5 which was never put on their website because it was not thought to be as good as the imminent d10 version,I was given it by a member of their support team, but the older 2.50 is still more stable

Thanks very much for that - I have dl 2.50a.d13 as they recommend.

Same question applies though - as it needs a factory reset, what settings would need to be re-entered apart from the obvious account/login/DNS stuff?

Are there any 'hidden' changes that iDnet would have applied when configuring the router - or do I just need to screenshot every page on the router's interface?  :)

the only thing I can think of off hand that idnet change on the router(apart from your personal settings for your service) is the http port, they change it from the standard 80 to 8888,that is why the login address isn't the standard billion one of http://192.168.1.254 but is http://192.168.1.254:8888,you change it in advanced set up/management/http port, just enter 8888 in the little window.if you call support they will talk you through or maybe even set things up remotely for you

OK - thanks for that - shouldn't be a problem.  :eek4:   :fingers:
