change properties of adobe to launch with admin privileges as standard ,it should then work ok

That really shouldn't be necessary. Doing that sort of thing weakens the OS against viruses and ransomware.

Well, it still doesn't work anyway.  I can select the DVD drive, as I could before, but it won't display the media to extract.

I fixed my issue by booting the PC with a music CD in each drive
