Avatars

My Wolf avatar is supposed to be animated.  It worked one minute, but not the next.  I have tried uploading it, and also linking from my own webspace.  It works on my forum, which is also SMF, so what could be wrong?

No, that didn't seem to help, nor did clearing the cache.

Maybe it needs to be a gif and not a png?

EDIT - Scrap that!  It only downloads as a png...

It's just a bit odd that it worked one minute, and not the next.  I've seen some other people's avatars which are animated.  Is there a file size limit?  Mine is 6.9Kb.

We have recently had some issues on here with animated smilies, I wonder if they could be related in some way???

It's weird.  I have just removed mine, and have used the "I have my own pic" option to upload it from my own webspace.  When I refresh my Profile page, it seems that it's still using the one I uploaded to this forum webspace.  Something of a caching issue perhaps?  Just a guess.

Try setting 'no picture', save that, then go back and change to a linked avatar. (Scratching head and wondering what is happening here... )

OK found the answer, guys.  If it needs resizing, this removes the animation effect.  All I need to do is resize it before uploading it.  More info here:
