Today (Monday 4th) was a total pig for speed all day, but it's all back to normal now. 

I joined IDNet on Sept 1st 06 so this is (sort of) my 1st anniversary.

I'm struggling to moan about something, so I'll stick with BT shoving me onto interleaving when everything was disconnnected over the Xmas hols.

Long story short; moving to IDNet was probably the only sensible broadband decision I've ever made...

Have you looked at your error count, Paul? I just wonder whether you had a noise problem which was causing re-transmissions.

Hi Paul

Enter this in the browser address bar:

http://192.168.0.1/setup.cgi?todo=debug

which should result in a screen which just says 'Debug enable'.
(That's assuming that you haven't changed the router's IP address from the default).

Then exit from the web interface and open a command-line window. Type:

telnet 192.168.0.1

You should get a BusyBox welcome message to confirm that your telnet connection is established.

Now type:

cat /proc/avalanche/avsar_modem_stats

You'll see the errors listed.

I get the welcome screen, but when i type in the line, says it cant find it or something

If you were using Firefox, try from IE. Netgears seem to be hard-coded for IE.

Thought: If you're running Routerstats, quit that first.

I've telnet the router and got the BusyBox message.

When i type in cat /proc/avalanche/avsar_modem_stats i get cat: /proc/avalanche/avsar_modem_stats: No such file or directory

Those errors don't look too high. I'd suggest you have a word with support on Monday, see if they can see any issues with your line.

Just to let you know. you can also change your SNR with telnet on DG834PN routers, i dont know if it works on older versions of DG834's

Is it a Broadcom chipset? That would allow SNR tweaking. It was used in the 834GT but not the 834 and 834G.

Have no idea, All i got told is that the chipset is different to the one dg834+ modems sold by ISPs.

Theres a tutorial online for moding .PN routers. And SNR is one of them.

Just got told that the chipset for DG834PN is called... Conexant... Don't know if this person is correct though.
