CD contents to HD Query

Hi..
My Wife purchaed a Craft CD yesterday and it Auto runs each time when placed into the drive.
Can anybody tell me please is it possible to copy the CD to the hard drive so it opens up
on the "C" drive instead of having to place the CD in the drive each time. The noise of
CD running when in use is also rather annoying.

The answer is 'it depends', Alan.

Most CDs can just be copied to a folder on the HD and run from there, but some will object. Try it - you've nothing to lose.

...and if you can't do that, or if you have a lot of CDs that you want to run in this way, then there are CD-Rom emulators out there, such as my favourite Paragon CDROM emulator at http://www.cdrom-emulator.com/ (though the website appears to have died just in time for your visit!) or http://www.softwarepatch.com/windows/xpvirtualcd.html
for an offering from Microsoft that I haven't tried.

Handy for those that have a lot of cd's, like you get in magazines and some kids books, good tip

I used to use Alcohol 120%, but can't remember whether that could actually create a disc image, or just mount an image in a virtual drive.

Cor that was a quick reply Rik.
Stupid me was trying to just drag from RW drive to C without opening the files up first.
All that was doing was just copying the shortcut each time. Opening them and copying
into new file has now solved the problem. I shall have to engage brain next time.
I'll put it down to a senior moment like a few more do on here.
