I've just had a quick read through the main ISP forums on ThinkBroadband and it seems that about many of the forums have people complaining about some part of their service. It really does make you wonder why they put up with it although obviously some people are tied down with long contracts, do these people ever read what they are going to agree to?

Probably not, Noreen. In my experience, a lot of people seem to just look at the headline price and sign up. :(

There is no such thing as a free lunch Rik, and that's what people want sadly with thier ISP something for nothing, then they complain when it does not work, I know a few people sadly on talk talk and have told them to use the open dns servers simply because talk talks are so damn awful

That's what stands us and IDNet apart from the crowd, Gary. We all recognise that quality costs money. As customers we have sought out that quality, and are willing to pay for it. As an ISP, IDNet have made the choice to go for quality rather than volume.

It's a perfect marriage. :)

I don't actually see the argument that IDNet costs more then other ISPs.  In my opinion, it's no more expensive than any other quality ISP, and the Home Lite package offers exceptionally good value.

Quality is the key word, there, Simon. IDNet is not expensive, imo, on a like for like basis - but compared to 'free' broadband...

Indeed you do Simon, I paid a lot for my pc so it would keep up for a few years and not be unable to keep up with more demanding usage in its first year, same with TV and AV amp, DVD recorder etc it should last, but its false economy to buy cheap electronics anyway, and as for IDNet I don't think its expensive and if I go over my 5gb a few quid extra is fine, the quality is outstanding and you will never get that from an ISP who offers everything including the kitchen sink.

My friend always seeks my advice about computers and such.  He decided he wanted to get broadband. As he was walking past Carphone warehouse he popped in and joined up with AOl with a free laptop, being told he could leave at any time for £70.. he he he.  When his contract came down it stated that he had signed up for 3 years and if he wanted to change providers it would cost him £70 plus £17 a month for the rest of the term (for the free laptop).  He called up and cancelled straight away, this was 5 days ago.  His phone line had already been taken by AOL, before any formal contract signed.  Any way, I checked his line and saw that it would be freed on 4 Dec 2007.  He now has decided to accept my advice and come to IDNET.  Another poor soul saved..hallelujah. :angel:

The moral of the story, stay out of whorehouses. ;D

I'm actually banned from the carphone warehouse Rik and very proud of it. Justina bought a sim free phone years back, and it went wrong and took it back within 3 days, they refused a refund, So I pointed out the trading standards act 1979 amended and said their regulations were an infringement of our statutory rights, and called trading standards from inside the shop on my mobile and said do you want to talk to them? They quickly refunded the money, then a few months later Justina bought an o2 phone and contract from them (she should have known better and does now) but had a bad signal at home, they don't give you a 14 day cooling off period as they buy the airtime so they said she could transfer network instead, knowing that Orange run their own contracts I  pointed that out to her as we stood at the desk, she changed to orange then after signing we went home had coffee went back and cancelled the contract saying she did not get a good signal either with them (that was true then we live in a mobile black spot.) Sometime later I tried to buy a handset online from them for a mate and was told by the carphone warehouse they could not sell to me even though they had before, and when I went into the local store they said I was banned.  >:D

The problem is that there an lot of people out there who wrongly equate low cost with value for money and the suppliers they choose are happy to separate them from their money and give them only the minimum they can get away with in return.
