ok have been trying for 3 weeks now (since joining idnet) to do a bt speedtest and keep on getting that annoying "the system is busy please try again blah blah" message every time. I mostly try at weekends or evening (which I know are busy times), but did get busy message at 6.30am today. Want a nice speedtest record to keep for posterity alonside my infamous 26kbps from virgin.not.

So :-
1) am I like the most unluckiest person ever?
2) does the system just hate me?
3) is it incredibly busy for everyone?
4) do idnet users have a problem in general with it?

hi there,it is really a matter of pot luck,i know when i was with virgin.tat, i took forever,to get tests done, its just perseverance i'm afraid to say,IMO the site is a load of tosh anyhow,as i run tests from 4 different sites, who were pretty much alike results wise, the BT one was miles out, unfortunately BT will only use this site as evidence of poor service

1). No

2). No

3). Yes

4). No.

The only sure fire way of connecting with it is to set your alarm for around 0400 hours. :eek4:
Anything and everything that I post on here is purely my opinion, it ain't going to change the world, you are under no obligation to agree with me, it is purely my expressed opinion.

It always seems to work for me.. 6544 kbps today.. maybe I'm just special :evilb:

I've just managed to run the test! It took ages on the first page, once I had entered my phone number.

Unfortunately, BT don't seem to want to throw any resources at it, and consequently many people find they just continuously get the error messages. It just means try, try, and try again!

Yep - I've found the same. I imagine it's something to do with the Java.

resurrecting a very old thread I started....

I have now, today, managed my first ever BT speedtest whilst with idnet after never having been able to get one to work before (not that I was trying every day, more like once in a blue moon...)
I emailed idnet for help, and James very kindly discovered the problem and sorted it out within 2 or 3 emails.

For future reference for anyone else, the problem was that my idnet username contained a space, which clearly the bt speedtester didn't like.
James removed the space; I reconfigured my router, did a speedtest and it worked first time....yay!

And here are the results as proof:
Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test:  -provides background information.
Download speed achieved during the test was - 8984 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 2000-21000 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :10754 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 1099 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 9000 Kbps
The throughput of Best Efforts (BE) classes achieved during the test is - 13.43:21.3:65.27 (SBE:NBE:PBE)
These figures represent the ratio while sententiously passing Sub BE, Normal BE and Priority BE marked traffic.

So many thanks idnet and James in particular!! ;D
