That's good to know. Me too. Another couple of months and IDNet will hold the dubious honour of being my longest surviving ISP. :)

Thats good news, I've a way to go yet (3 years at onetel, until talktalk stuck their oar in), if nothing changes here (the dreaded t) then I won't move again.

Rik

I'm not a natural rover, but the early ISPs were often a shambles, so... (Pipex were the worst, and that was back in dial-up days!)

In dial up days I used a free service called TOTALISE which even gave you shares in the company for extra usage.

Those were the days at 4k DL

Rik

I started with Prestel, and just moved around from there, with a relatively long stint at Compuserve, though they weren't an ISP at the time.

If you want to feel smug read this thread at the f2support forum, this is the unofficial forum for f2s (although f2s do post on it), f2s is now owned by Tiscali. >:D http://www.freedom2support.net/forums/showthread.php?t=9401

Rik

That's the way to ensure people never come back. Horrendous behaviour and, almost certainly a breach of contract!  >:(

Well, we may tell them to go and make love, but I think that's a bit different, Malc.  >:D

Apparently Tiscali have now apologised to the disconnected poster in the f2support thread.

Sebby

The best apology would be for them to allow everyone to get out of their contracts early.

Noreen

However it seems that they apologised via email to a customer whose broadband connection they had disconnected. So if he hadn't had dial-up he wouldn't have known. Of course they did have his phone number. >:D

Sebby

They've certainly got a thing or two to learn about good customer service, Noreen. :)

Simon

I doubt they'll have any customers to bother about soon!

They are running a poll on F2support re who is leaving and who is staying. At the moment it stands at 22 have asked for their MAC, 12 are staying and 18 have already migrated. Of course this doesn't include people who have already migrated and no longer visit the forum, of which there are many.  http://www.freedom2support.net/forums/showthread.php?t=9373&page=3

Rik

Let's hope we never see the same thing happening here.
