Les, the DHCP range is set from the Local Network > Configure tab, mine is set from 2 - 15 with 254 being used by the router.

Presumably you have chosen and made this setting range for yourself.
I have not changed anything on this tab so I am assuming my settings are defaults after the factory reset I did before doing the other setup items to get connected to IDNet. Do you think that this could be the case?

My SBC model ran  from 64-253, Les, but the dual SSID model runs from 1-253. Foibles of firmware - confused the helll out of me. ;D

The 2700 has a weird but nice way of bridging multiple ip's (been playing this weekend with a voip server accessable from the internet)---wifes away for weekend

you can firewall protect (or not) the second ip.

local addresses served from the first/router can be accessed by the second wan ip directly (but not from the net directly).

If you don't understand what i just said you don't need to know.

Nothing to do with reserving part of the range for Wireless then as I wondered about mine.  ???

have just ordered a 2700hg from ebay (£19) to see if I can get better sync. wag54gs and zyxel660 both drop connection when I get an incoming call. 63db line, 6db SNR up and down. 1120/720 on average sync-wise. Am plugged into master socket via an inline filter (NTE5 frontplate made no difference), no phone connected but when I ring my landline the sync normally drops.

Anyone ever had similar troubles?

I use a Zyxel 660, I have also tested using a 2700, never had any dropped connections with either Myth.

have tried two inline and an NTE5 faceplate, no difference. I'm on TPON with overlay thingy, when I moved here IDNet said they probably couldn't raise any tickets with BT for anything because it's basically a broken system to start with.  I'm toying with the idea of blocking incoming calls (neither of us here use the landline except in emergencies) but keeping outgoing if that's an option. There is another on this estate with IDnet but who lives nearer the exchange, he's got 2.7 sync or so with the 2wire so it might be the solution.

In, you dont have high attenuation though do you. Did u get better sync with the 2wire? I'm wondering if the upload snr is my problem. Am on supermax so i'm stressing that part  more than most

on 2nd 2wire now (1st connected twice then died with red flashing dsl light) but both connected with snr of 15db. The zyxel connects with 6-7db snr downstream. Is there a setting in the 2700 to tell it to try a syncing with a lower snr?

There isn't that I know of, Myth. 15db suggests that the target margin has been raised by BT. Could it be that the Zyxel is reporting incorrectly?

I know i hijacked this thread, sorry  :blush:

The other two sync at significantly higher downstream rates. Maybe I've been set to 15db but the other two don't do their job properly  :-\
