Looking to migrate from tiscali.

Im currently with tiscali for my broadband, phone and line rental and am looking to move away from them, but i want to migrate the bb first then the phone back to bt. does my line rental have to be with bt or not?

I believe your line rental has to be with BT, but someone will be along to confirm that soon.  :)

No the line doesnt have too i was with toucan bb and phone but just switch bb so yeah get ur mac code mate and get IDNET.

I believe it has to be a bt line that your idnet service is provided on but i could well be wrong. A quick email or call to support will give the definative answer!

You'll not regret it. I moved from Tiscali about 18 months ago - never had any problems. One of my mates also joined IDNet a few months ago, and he's been happy with them too.

How long are they going to make you wait? I don't see why they can't supply it almost immediately like decent ISPs do (actually, I've answered my own question; it's because they're not a decent ISP!). The ISP gets it almost immediately (perhaps up to half an hour) from BT's systems once they request it. Ah, the mysteries of a poor ISP...  ::) ;D

It took me 2 weeks to get it

They also "forgot" to do a coleague's of mine. They soon did it when I got him to mention ofcom! He is also now happy on IDNet!

They also "forgot" to send mine, claiming, "this happens sometimes".  Yeah right, and it wouldn't be to drag the start of the 30 day cancellation notice into the next payment cycle, would it?

Just remember it's a requirement for them to provide it in five working days, and let them know you know that and will be complaining to Ofcom if needs be. It tends to help focus their mind - assuming they have one.  ;D

Thats what I did with Rik's advise, then I got it straight away.

When I got my mac from Tiscali to move to IDNet, I was holding on the phone for about 20 minutes before I got through to cancellations. Received the mac within about 10 minutes of the call though, so that was the best service that Tiscali ever provide me with!

Well ive got my mac code  ;D ;D but now when i put my phone no. in on the idnet  page it says i can only get 2meg when it said more than that before ??? ???

No idea, tbh. Give them a ring, 0800 0267237. Remember that the figure is only ever an estimate, though, they'll get your line going as fast as they can. If you can post your downstream attenuation, noise margin and sync speed, we can make a pretty fair guess at what that will be.

??? ummmm wot??  never mind ill sing up and worry about it later. it will still be faster than tiscali (mind you so would a dead hedgehog!)

As Rik says, it's only an estimate and can actually be a lot higher if your stats are good.

You can find out your line stats using this guide. If you post them, one of us will be able to give you a pretty good idea of the sync and speed you'll achieve on Max. :)
