i understand the quick reply ,but what do we click on etc to do it, i've got it turned on in profile i think

Indeed you do have it on!

When you view a thread, you should see a white box at t he bottom of the page, with the buttons 'post',  'preview' and 'spell check'. Just type you reply in the box and choose your action!
