One for the Vistal Virgins I fear..
I have a new lappy running Vista Home Premium and a PC running XP Home. I've set up my wireless home network via my Netgear D834G (V3) router and all seems fine, I can print via the network and I can see the files from the PC designated as share on the Vista lappy and can access them. However the reverse does not apply. When accessing the shareable folders on the Lappy from the XP machine I can see the folders but I can't open them. I'm told I don't have access rights.
I'm obviously falling foul of the increased security on the Vista machine but I'm already designated as administrator on both machines. How can I get these permissions sorted? The laptop (Vista) folders are showing as shared.

I suggest having a look at the security settings when you right click on the folders on the lappy. Lokok for the group 'everyone' and set to allow everything. Hopefully that should work!

I have exactly the same problem, but it isn't really an issue for me, so I've never bothered about it.  It will be interesting, though, to see if any of those solutions work.

My best advice is to create the same users on both computers with the same passwords and ensure they're in the same work group. This should work without a problem and certainly I have XP - Vista - XP without a problem.

The stuff on the Microsoft forums posted by madasahatter did the trick. Add yourself as a "guest".
I don't for one moment understand why thaty should make a difference but it does.
Thanks to all who took the time to answer
