I wouldn't put too much store by that result, Jill, but it could indicate more noise on your lien, depressing throughput.

It certainly is a depressing throughput, but that speed tester can be wildly inaccurate.

It makes sense to eliminate your equipment, Jill. Not many ISPs lend routers to do it though. :)

Well I couldn't make sense of his first sentence, they want the cable replaced? is that what he's asking? I have emailed him just to make sure. We do have another router, Jack did not like it, Sagem, he said it was hopeless  ???

It makes sense to try that, Jill, because it's a suspect on the list. If that eliminates the losses of connection the problem is solved and your line can get up to speed.

Hmm, well the Sagem sounds like it'll be a modem. I'd say it's not ideal, but it'll probably do for test purposes.

I have ordered new wiring and a new filtered faceplate, if this doesn't work, it will be another router!  :pray:

The faceplate change will be literally a case of removing the old and replacing it with the new. Run the new RJ11 cable from that to the router, and plug the phone extension into the phone side of the socket. All should be much better then.

If the faceplate is filtered, I would not need another filter then?

No, everything on the BT connector side is already filtered.

I'd be surprised if it helps as the test socket gave the same results (though if your old filter was to blame, it may well change things). Still, it's the best way to go IMHO, and if it doesn't make a difference, the setup is in place for when BT sort it. Good luck. :)

Noise Margin    11 db    19 db

That looks marginally better, Jill, in that the noise margin has risen - though that might be due to the time of day. Normally, that wouldn't be a good thing, but in your case, it suggests less pickup. Have you let James know?

Not yet, I was going to see how things were for a while?

IP profile for your line is - 135 kbps
    DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM)  1344 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
    Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 82 kbps
