8.30am and I've missed the post! now have to wait before I can pick up the router  :argh:

J!ll

My present router:

ADSL Link     Downstream     Upstream
Connection Speed    1344 kbps    448 kbps
Line Attenuation    45 db    15.5 db
Noise Margin    9 db    19 db

Rik

Not a lot of change, Jill. 2db less noise margin, not ideal for this time of day.

Well it's better this morning, than last night! son couldn't play his game, I couldn't watch a video clip  :(

Rik

There's nothing better in the router's stats, Jill, but they don't tell me anything about throughput, of course.

If there are any more checks I need to do, let me know  :)

Rik

You need to get the router from IDNet, Jill and try with that.

Just hope I can do that  I don't know anything about routers! Jack at work until 8pm

Rik

It will be set up already, Jill, it's just a matter of connecting three leads, mains, ethernet and ADSL. It's very likely to be the same router you already have, so just look at the current connections.

OK, hub picked up router, it's the same as the one we have, Netgear. I know IDNet wanted me to use their leads, the RJ11 (they supplied) is too short, so as I have a new one, will have to use this. They've also put a filter in, but the faceplate? is filtered anyway.

Rik

You can forget the filter, unless you want to remove the faceplate and plug their filter into the test socket, then your extension leads and router lead into the filter. That would, at least, make sure the new face plate doesn't have an issue (I'm sure it doesn't).

Cannot access router stats? I don't have a password, mine for our one wont work.

Rik

It should be your IDNet username and password, Jill.

Will keep trying, but that doesn't work either  :(

Rik

In that case, just leave it running until you can contact James on Monday.

Rik

You've lost me, Jill. IDNet must know it, since they set the router up, why would they need it?
