A slight deviation from above, but, the user accounts, when I turn on my PC, it brings up a screen where I have to click on my name to continue loading, it only started to do this after some XP updates a couple of months ago, I've got rid of it when the PC goes into sleep mode, but, how do I get rid of it completly, so that the PC boots up completly when I turn it on?

Only me uses the PC, so I don't need this.

Thanks

Sebby

Malc, click Start then Run, type control userpasswords2 and hit enter. Untick Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer and click OK. It will probably ask you for the username and password that you want the system to login as by default, so just make sure these details are correct and OK it (if you don't have a password, leave it blank).

I hope this helps. :)

Just done a reboot and it's gone!

That's been annoying me for weeks.

Thanks Sebby

I've just been putting up with it, didn't think about solving it.

I got round this another way - using autologon in TweakUI from here:

TweakUI

Some other nice little toys in there too... 8)

Edit: posted this in Tweaks, Tips and Tutorials too - thought some peeps might see it better there if they were specifically looking for this kind of thing

I've split this topic off because I think we'd taken over Garce's thread.  :P

A lot of the things you can do on XP are hidden away or require registry changes, so something like TweakUI in particular is great. I've also used the ClearType Tuner on a notebook and it's pretty good.

Malc

Don't we always take over threads  ;)

Sebby

Yes we do, and we must be punished. >:D

Malc

Rik's doing house visits.  >:D

Can I request Jill for my punishment?

Sebby

Ah, so is that where he disappears to at night? ;)

You'll have to take that up with Jill. I'm staying out of it... :o :D

madasahatter

He's probably tucked up in bed now

Sebby

He can't be, he wouldn't leave us like that to do the night shift on our own. :P
