Hi All.
As a recent idnetter (almost a month) In my 10 day settling in period I was receiving speeds up to 6.5mb. The figure of 7150k is an indication of the maximum actual data throughput I could expect to receive, after overheads.

Question is; Have been doing BT, ADSL Guide, speed test on a regular basis which have been fluctuating all over the punjab but, still with a line profile of 7150k.

Today this has changed to a line profile of 5000k but downstream seems to be more consistant around 3.5-4.5mb, upstream is constant at 380k.

Can anyone enlighten me why the line profile has changed?

Thanks in advance ::)

Your readings are virtually the same as mine over a similar period. I feel that this is the 'norm'  for most.

Maybe wrong but take a look at other categories on this subject and it would appear that these are the speeds that most can expect.

For your line profile to change to 5000 you must have had a period of lower sync, between 5696 - 6239Kbps. Are you syncing at 8128 now? If so, your profile should go back to 7150 after 3 days. If not, presumably your line wasn't stable at the higher sync.

Thanks Thar

Just completed another bt speedtest and the results are as follows:

Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test:
    IP profile for your line is - 7150 kbps
    DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM)  8128 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
    Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 5383 kbps

Seems the IP profile has gone back to 7150K and has stablised,more than happy with this result. Thanks again :banana2:

I think you're only posting this to make me jealous, as the best IP profile I can get is 2500.  :)
