remove programme..not on list

typed in the path of this programme and it came up as Adobe 8.could this be the programme which needs to be deleted.bearing in mind elements 6 is Adobe ......me thinks perhaps leave alone ?

I suppose last resort, delete the folder with the program in, then run the reg cleaner in ccleaner, I've had to do that on occasion as a last resort.

Adobe is a different brand to Ulead, so they will not be the same program, David.  Adobe 8 possibly refers to Acrobat Reader (for pdf files).  Did you have a CD that came with the computer?  Might be worth browsing that, to see if there are any installation / uninstallation files on it.

Thanks all no the PB come with no cd just a smart restore,I will delete for the time being but leave in the bin just in case and hopefully it will be ok,I have got Element 6 running so ok for time being thanks guys

After a nights sleep I think this is my only option,once I have deleted the files in this way will it stop activating when I click on a picture.....?

When you installed Elements, didn't it give you an option for which files to associate with it, David?

Cant remember to be honest Rik my mind was concentrated on the activation stuff,but Im going to load i tin to  the lap top so will see.I do tick the box where is says use adobe for all but the other programme just seems to override the thing.the only way I can try and stop is by deleting the folder and files,I don't know if ccleaner will work after doing this as Im not sure about this as I have never seen it..so a little cautious

I would start by using CCleaner to try and uninstall the program, David. If that doesn't work, I'd personally edit the registry, but you have to be comfortable to go delving in there. It might also be worth running MSCONFIG to see if anything is showing up in there.

Thank Rik I did look in the c cleaner but it isn't on that list which would make it easy,am have a root around and it is a coral application,really if I can find a way of just deactivating it.E6 is fine so no conflict I don't think just a little vexing.I could try the PB forum,its possible someone else has had this.These machines as you know I expect come preloaded..and I read a while ago they don't make it easy for some of these things to be found by the run of the mill user.....I wont give up though

PB is like many manufacturers these days, David, they pre-install an image, but don't give you the discs to get rid of stuff easily. There are several routes to remove stuff like this, but often they involve some serious hacking.

I think this bugger is deeper than the titanic,that was easier to find as well.

The only way to find it is to type in the search bar and up it comes. delete and clean and hope it works.

One one question Rik.Will this cleaner take off anything else,how does it decide what goes off.Im just reading through it......

It should (I don't use it) offer you its suggested 'cleanings'. Just run through them and leave anything you're not certain of alone. The cleaner I use will often find hundreds of entries though, so do it at a time when you feel patient.

You could just let it wipe the lot... and do a back up first.

That's another approach, Malc. I always set a system restore before tampering, and also back up the entire registry with Erunt. Then, for good measure, I take a TI backup too.

Im back peeps,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,looks like it gone.would I keep you in suspense.I can now click on the pics and it goes straight to  adobe,I did delete and ran the cleaner so I will leave it in ignorance...
Installed it onto laptop and that was a breeze and despite warnings it might flicker there is no evidence in fact the photos are very good.

Shot over to PC world for the manual and they do "The Missing Manual" £24.99" but I would never read this,war and peace is short in comparison,so Im off on the hunt for a smaller version,but the pdf are ok and its fun playing around with it....

Im going to play safe and get the wacom bamboo is this sufficient for what I want or need..

Glad you came through unscathed, David. Experimentation is the best way to learn in some respects, but having an understanding of the tools is obviously useful. Thick manuals make sense with Photoshop products, though - there's so much depth to them, and once you start playing, you can turn photos into works of art.

Im already getting the hang of not being frightened and do what my 9 year old does.....just clicks and then checks to see what she has done...It is amazing what can be done and it isn't a lot of money for what you get..

In the pc world version it is only a small book not the second edition of the bible.

What used to be hours of work in a darkroom is now seconds, with the ability to undo rather than start from scratch, David. It makes for an addictive hobby. One tip I will give you is to save your files with incremental names, eg photo256a, 256b etc. That way, you can back track the work you have done if you want to.
