File menu, Import and Export, run the wizard.

edit:

You don't need an add-on for Firefox- from Manage Bookmarks, File Menu, export....

Thanks Bill it was blatently in front of me wasn't it lol  ::) thanks yeah i saw the one for firefox but the extension FEBE backs the whole firefox profile up.

The import/export on the browsers (Opera has it too) comes in very useful to transfer a favourites list from one browser to another- they're only HTML files so they all accept each others files.

With an occasional error... but a lot easier than doing it the hard way!

Better still, if you're using just IE and FF, go get Roboform. That way, passcards and bookmarks (doesn't use either IE Favourites, or FF Bookmark mechanisms) are shared between the two apps; all passcards/bookmarks you define are available to both. Brilliant little program.

For Firefox 1.5.0.7
File >> Import >> Internet Explorer...select preferred characteristics to pull in...FF will do the rest.

For IE7
File >> Import & Export >> Next >> Import Favourites/Coookies/Feeds (WHY three different options ! Terrible interface !)...you'll then be prompted for the location of the Faves/Cookies/Feeds you've already exported from FF.

I use Outback, which also backs up IE settings too. http://ajsystems.com/obp.html

Files and Settings transfer wizard is another route, it takes over a lot more, especially easy if the two machines are networked.
