Rik if you can turn this into a poll i would be gratefull.

there is a purpose to it all.

I am about to test the latest batch of nte5 faceplates, (i do not do soap on a ropes)

the 4(5) that i am testing are

clarity
solwise
nte2000/2005
adsl nation.
soap on a rope
whats a microfilter?

Now i have tested adsl nation before but a techie at work keeps going on about how good it is.

so thinking i have a dodgy (or old style-if there is such a thing) i decided it was time to redo the tests.

add to that the newer nte 2000 and i have a reason for testing. I am still awaiting the nte2005 so cant comment on it at present (or how much better it is compared to the one bt were installing a year ago)

So Rik if you could set up a poll would be nice see what people are using?

That do you, Dean?

Thank you.

adsl nation faceplate refers to the faceplate that screws onto the nte5 the xf-1e is the "soap on a rope" from adsl nation.

just to clarify

Rik

I decided I couldn't get soap on a rope into the box as well. ;)

That may just be a screen refresh issue, Ted, the vote should still register.

;D ;D Don't do polls, but I do use Solwise filters, I seem to recall they were around a quid each, they have lasted far longer than the cr*ppy BT " soap on a rope " rubbish that I used before them.

It could give higher sync, which in turn could yield more speed. Generally speaking, a filtered faceplate will do the most, otherwise just removing the ring wire on each socket should make a huge difference (often regardless of the fact that you have pretty standard soap-on-a-rope filters).

Noreen

I have a faceplate fitted to the front of the BT box. It has ADSL v10 on the front, where (if anywhere) does that go in the poll?

Rik

I think that's an NTE2000, Noreen.

Thanks, Rik. I bought it online ages ago and can't remember the details now. ;D

Rik

Ah, if you bought it, it might be a Solwise or Clarity.

Yup, it's a Solwise.

Probably from Clarity if it's BT branded and says ADSL v1.0.

Noreen

#22
Well, I've voted for the NTE2000 now. ???

It hasn't got a BT symbol on it, Sebby.

Rik

No problem, give me a couple of secs and you can remove your vote and then re-vote...

There you go. :)
