I seem to recall reading somewhere, that tea without sugar would have been OK, as it would have eventually dried out.  The sugar makes it stick to everything.  Don't try this at home though!

I get about 6 - 8 calls a year from people that say "my keys are sticking", they mostly deny spilling anything, but if it is a laptop you can generally see the residue on the back of the keyboard or parts of the laptop. They also think that the damage caused should be covered by the warranty, it isn't.

Most drinks that leave a residue when dry are bad for keyboards. The modern variety of plastic keyboards are prone to sticking with coffee being worse than tea, but cola is evil stuff.

If the keyboard still works after its shower, but keys are sticking, try disconnecting it from the PC and give it a bath in warm soapy water. Allow it to dry for a day or two in a warm place, then try all the keys to see if they are working without sticking.

As a last resort it may be worth claiming on your house contents insurance policy if it is covered by it and the cost of repair is very high.

A bath in methylated spirits may do the trick too - it works with TV remotes! ( batteries out first )
