Not sure I like the look of that wheely dial thingy, but it looks like a logical step forward from Vista.

I've had a proper look at it now. I'm sure whatever they do will be intuitive; after all, Vista is. But what's important is that they remember to focus on performance, which they completely failed to do with Vista. It looks like too much of the work is going on the UI and not enough "under the hood".

Simon

Unfortunately though, Seb, it's the UI that will attract the mainstream PC World brigade.   :bawl:

That's true. There's no denying that Vista looks great. If it had XP's performance, it would be a winner. Anyway, fingers crossed that Windows 7 will be a good mixture of the two. :)

Rik

This may be the final straw to push me over to a Mac. Way too much colour...

I think it's pretty certain other themes will be available, so I wouldn't initially be put off by the default UI.

Probably Simon, however I get a feeling that they will all be equally naff.

Noreen

I prefer Vista to that, looks as though it's designed for children.

I wonder how long we can get away with using XP for...

madasahatter

I think that looks pretty damn good, but then I like Vista, so what do I know?  >:D

The thing is though doc, that with the slow take up on vista, I would have thought that MS will want to get this out on time, or even before  ;)

Sebby

I agree, though I guess however much they want to, it just might not be possible.

That's true, but I would have thought that they will have learnt from how long vista took, to make sure that they get it right this time - otoh you just never know  :D

Rik

They did learn on the 98 - Me - XP cycle...

There are some who are starting to compare ME to Vista, so if that comparison sticks through time, some will wonder what MS has and hasn't learned!  ;)

Rik

TBH, I've been comparing Vista to Me from its launch. It had that same "this is not quite what we intended but we have to get something to the market" feel about it. :(

Agreed, since when did MS ever introduce any OS without serious flaws anyway..? ;D
