same here but it was a very brief interuption :dunno:

Same here at the Kempston exchange.  No upgrades or maintenance work appears to be scheduled for this exchange.  The router is connected to the exchange as normal, just the dropped PPP.

I'm on GW5 and currently using dial up.

I've tried rebooting but this has made no difference, the router just keeps attempting to start PPP.

Any ideas?

Thanks, Tim.

Have you left the router off for 15-20mins and then tried? This will help if you have a stale session due to the loss of PPP.

I'm on DSL4.

vorbei

Yes, I switched the router off for about 20 minutes.

I'm sorry I can't think of anything else to try.

I've noticed on thinkbroadband forum that there are customers on there who still have no connection from about 7.15pm.

I know it doesn't help but it sounds like you are not on you own.

MikeT

Yes my connect says broadband phyiscaly up but I have no IP address.

I notice the status page now reads less than green.

David

I don't know if its anything to do with this but I could not access my Email or this site but got a message that bt had a problem, then a while ago got another stating it was now fixed and to shut browser and restart which  I have done and all is back to normal, may be worth a try chaps :fingers:

Information from status page of IDNet

"one of our Centrals had a brief outage earlier this evening (04/06) at approximately 19.20pm that is now fixed but has
left some customers with stale sessions. Powering-down the router/modem for about 30 minutes should fix it."

AndyG

My connection went down at 19:15.  I have since switched my router off for 30 minutes twice and it still keeps trying to start PPP with no joy.

Just lost my connection again 10.05pm for about 2 mins.

Again had to reboot router to get it to reconnect.

I guess IDNet are still working on the problem.

Desaan

I managed to reconnect 3 hrs later, thats some stale session....

Disconnected, was "connected" but not authenticated.

Switched routers and it fixed it, but looking at this thread it seems my router isn't buggered after all.

My connection has been down for hours, and is still down. I'm currently connecting via my mobile phone - extremely slow...

My modem router says the ADSL media is up, but PPP connection fails with 'Timeout in CHAP negotiation' error.

Grrr!

VaderDSL

aye ditto here still not connecting :-(

Simon

Welcome Karmas for those new to the forums.  :)  As IDNet are aware of, and appear to be working on the problem, there's little we can do here, but feel free to post anyway.  Please make sure you follow IDNet's advice, by powering down your router/modem for about 30 minutes, which should hopefully restore your connection.

Bloody hell, been offline for 6 hours now and only managed to get back on with a 56k on an old comp and luckily windows had a freephone number to grab UK ISP lists and grabbed a Supanet payg dialup for 1p a min.

I had the modem powered off for 30mins but this did nothing at all. Didn't know idnet had a dialup number, but this isn't much different from what I'm using atm is it?

Ray

Seems there was a major outage of the BT network yesterday evening according to IDnet's network status page.

I got off even lighter, I never noticed anything, I was out at the time.  ;)
