Damned, if you do damned if you don't

Baz

might be a daft question but where can you download Mailwasher free from.

I have it already but check for updates just takes me to the page for the pro version and me being a tight git dont want that

Baz

its ok thanks I found it from google and seems like I have the latest version   :)

Simon

I'm not sure they're doing a free one any more, are they?  I know I still have the latest 'old' version, because they're now charging a yearly subscription for the upgrade version.

Samsung have released a firmware update for their SA series of LED monitors. e.g. model s23a550h

Not quite sure what its done apart from make me have to reset my settings but they class it as a quality improvement.

Installer is Windows only and you have to be connected by HDMI it would appear.

What will that break I wonder

Technical Ben

Am I a bad person for still being on 3?
I use to have a signature, then it all changed to chip and pin.

Rik

No, Ben, it causes us less problems. :)

Support for 3.6 is finished today anyway  http://www.ghacks.net/2012/01/05/firefox-3-6-support-to-end-on-april-24-2012/  people will have to update or move on. 12 is a get ready for a UI change and other changes in 13 and 14 apart from security fixs and under the hood stuff. Really though people moan yet whats the latest full release number for Google Chrome '18.0.1025.165' and how many times does that update? Silent updates with no UAC in Windows now too with Firefox.

Hopefully a little less than with the current version which I've found to be quite unstable on a number of PCs. 'Firefox (Not Responding)' along with a greyed out session is something I'm seeing rather a lot of at the moment. :fingers: the new version is a little more stable.

No issues with 11 on the Mac, very stable.  :dunno: lots of variables though with add ons etc

Sorry to use an internet meme. But I HATE UI changes. :(

I think this version introduces silent updating too.

I might actually get pushed over to IE... oh wait, Opera still exists? Phew!

It does lance, it bypasses the UAC like Chrome, version 14 will do that for Macs and Linux.

If you find out what the changes are it may not be as bad as as you think. For one like Opera it will introduce a new page with all your most used sites on when you open a new blank tab.

It's when they remove buttons to improve "functionality". Just making a bookmark in IE 10 is a nightmare.
Hmmmm. Java now is not working or something. I think I'm gonna have to jump the ship. I'd rather sit on the iceberg!

Java is evil anyway  ;) if you have not updated java, Firefox put a soft block on it, which you can bypass. As to buttons, customise them, my version 12 looks pretty much the same as version 3 with home button on the left hand side, you can move things where you want and put buttons back via customise toolbar.  :)

Java 6 Update 32 released.

Well, I've updated Firefox to 12 now... Hmmm... Seems ok so far!  ;D

Oh, except each time I need to find a new mouse gesture plugin, and each time it gets slightly less polished. How can add-on developers keep up with all the changes! :P

Not sure what the GUI changes are apart from more empty and wasted space, less useful information and buttons. But I put the buttons back, changed the order of the bars and put the infobar back already, so I've not got a vanilla setup anyhow.

WHAT!? The infobar/status bar is now disabled and can only be added as an addon?  :eek4:  :slap: Crazy I tell you...

PS, the whole reason I think it's a bad move is I hate popups. Being dyslexic I need the information clear and concise. Swapping function, shape, colour and sizes of boxes and text is visually confusing to me. It's fine on a game of asteroids, but not when I'm trying to read. It's a complete fail IMO on the part of Mozilla to jump on the "flashy GUI" bandwagon, instead of the easily used and access one.

I dont use the info/status bar/addon bar no need to, I have my add ons top right in the tab bar space. More browser real estate is better I feel. Firefox 13 comes out on Tuesday all being well with more updates, makes it a bit more like Opera and Chrome in some ways from what I have seen, gives it ASLR and makes it a tad faster too. Oh and security patches. Since Mozilla is rapidly loosing ground to Chrome they had to do something or they would just vanish and no one would be using Firefox anymore,
Damned, if you do damned if you don't

Technical Ben

Like you said... it makes it like Opera... so... I've... gone to Opera!

Really, it's Mozilla's own fault. If they want to imitate others, I'll go to the source, not the poor imitation.

"More real estate" is totally pointless when half the websites are limited to 800 pix wide, or 400 pix deep. Besides, I tend to have a slim GUI setup anyhow, the infobar if for me to check links before I click them, and as said, popups are not desired.  :slap:

Firefox 13 out with links to Add ons and settings on the home page.
