I'm going to wait a while and see how this new version turns out. http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=212656

No problems with it here, Rik, just installed it over the previous version and all seems to be working OK.  :)

So I wonder what is causing some people problems?

I did an uninstall/reinstall yesterday of just the Nod32 3.0.667 AV, into Vista Business.

So far all seems as normal.  CPU usage is normal.

Have done a 'Full scan' of the system drive which completed a lot faster than before.

Well, after reading in several places that many people are updating without problems I've taken the risk and updated (over the top) although I've yet to do scan.  :fingers:

Noreen

Just run a full scan and it's definitely faster on my Vista laptop.

Slightly off topic, but update related and possibly of use to someone:

Two days ago I started getting the message my licence will expire in 12 days. This pleased me no end as I bought my copy of Vista home premium.

After a bit of searching around, I discovered that the reason was that M$ in their INFINITE wisdom, decided that anyone that was using the release candidate of Service pack 1, would have their installation rendered to that of a trial use operating system. When the licence expires, it then locks a LOT of features.

To solve this I had to remove SP1RC and download the full 700mb+ service pack, because windows update didn't list it as available for what reason, I don't know. Just under an hour to uninstall SP1RC and then quite bizarrely I had to install a few small updates that were a total of 60mb in size, which took 30 mins + to download. Then I had the joy of the 700mb+ download of the service pack, and the following hour was spent installing it.

Total time lost on a Friday night - 3 hours.

Cheers Microsoft, you're a bunch of idiots.

Baz

NOD32 latest version installed over the top, kept old settings no bother so far.

Full scan took same time as last version. Is it supposed to be quicker?

Noreen

I don't know whether it's supposed to be faster, Baz, but it appeared to be so on my computer. It doesn't seem to be having any problems and is updating normally.

Baz

yeah its ok for me too.  how often do you update Noreen. I do once a week manually then I know its done

Noreen

It updates automatically, Baz, it's usually once and sometimes twice a day.

Baz

twice a day, its amazing how many new virus there must be in the wild isnt it.

virus/virus's/virii   what is the plural for virus? does it have one? is that last one an actual word  ;D ;D

Rik

There's lots of argument about the plural form, Baz, most people seem to come down in favour of viruses. As to updates, many are down to variants of the original attack being discovered.

Noreen

That's why I let it update automatically, Baz, I don't think that a weekly manual update is often enough. :)

Rik

Norton used to think it was, Noreen. Quite frightening, really.
