My 2700 has always synched at the max rate.  So on this page http://home/xslt the max rate and the current rate have always been the same.. until now.  Today I see that the max rate is fluctuating and the current rate is lower.  I did resynch but it still synched lower than max.  The current rate now is 7616 and the max is 8104.

What does everyone else's do?

I'm guessing you're using that URL to get to broadband link stats, Ann? (The URL is displayed when you get there, but it's not actually the URL, which is http://192.168.1.254/xslt?PAGE=J03&THISPAGE=A02_POST&NEXTPAGE=J03.

My max rate upstream is always higher than my actual rate. Downstream, it's often the other way round, with the current figure lower than the sync speed, due to changes in noise levels.

A 7616 sync speed suggests that interleaving has been turned on, btw.

I agree with Rik, it suggests that interleaving is now on. It's possible that it was before but you were able to still sync higher (some exchanges are like that). What with the work they've been doing, perhaps something has changed at the exchange now so you're getting the "true" maximum sync for an interleaved line.

If, on the other hand, interleaving has recently been turned on, it suggests high errors, which could be down to noise or just a degrading line (something that is quite common, unfortunately).

I've always had interleaving on and for a few months the synch has been 7616.  It's the max rate that is now changing.  It's never done that before.  Now it says 8088.  It's always said 7616 before.  It's just a bit weird.

The router is just saying that's what it thinks it could connect at, if it were left free to do so, Ann. It might indicate an improvement in your line, so if it stays higher, you could talk to support about possibly getting interleaving turned off.
