El Reg is reporting that carrier Amtrak, used by Dabs amongst others, has failed.

Makes a change from a computer company failing, I guess.

Dabs are not my favourite company to deal with, had many products go wrong from them, in fact enough to make me wonder about their product quality completely :(
Damned, if you do damned if you don't

Rik

It's not a company I would use, Gary, but thee failure of Amtrak does surprise me. There seems to be so much work out there for carriers atm.

It does make you wonder, Rik, and because of failures we end up with that sit and wait day, that ends up with the dreaded its almost 5pm and they finish soon feeling, since internet shopping is so popular  it makes you wonder what went wrong with Amtrak, not that I remember ever having anything delivered by them though

I always thought that " Amtrak " was the name of the big railway company in the US, shows how much I know. ;)

Never used Dabs since BT took them over.

Actually I thought it was the train company as well to begin with, which could explain the problem, those trains can't run well on roads ;)

I guess that cost of fuel may have had something to do with it, though I doubt it was the primary cause of their demise.

Rik

Possible, Seb, particularly if they've bid low for contracts.

Sebby

Exactly, which I suspect they did. Companies like Dabs must have such bargaining power as there's so much choice out there.

Rik

It seems everyone is squeezing everyone else, now, in the hope that they can make a profit in the process. Eventually, it will become like a house of cards. :(

I decided not to use DABS again since the Sat Nav I bought turned out to be a factory re-conditioned unit although there was no mention of this before I bought it. I couldn't really complain because I'm happy enough with it and it looked like new and came with a 12 month manufacturers warranty however I thought it was a bit underhand not mentioning it beforehand.

Rik

Not only underhand but illegal.
