Plus, when Flash updates, it doesn't always remove the old files if they are in use, and Secunia continues to flag them. Minor issues, but it would be nice if they could sort it.

If any one is using Adobe 9.1 download the ccleaner Winappi2 or make your own, and open Winappi2 with notepad and add the following

[*Adobe Acrobat 9.0]
LangSecRef=3021
Detect=HKCU\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\9.0\AVGeneral
Default=True
RegKey1=HKCU\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\9.0\AVGeneral\cRecentFiles

That will clean adobe 9.1 if you use it
Damned, if you do damned if you don't

Simon

I looked at a Mac laptop last night, and just can't justify the prices.

Try the refurbished store on the Apple web site.

Ordered a Macbook Aluminium 2.4ghz from there this week, it turned up yesterday, absolutely great, there is no way you can tell its a refurb.

As a added bonus it has 4gb RAM and 320gb hard drive instead of the advertised 2gb and 250gb  :)

Rik

Sounds a worthwhile alternative.  :thumb:

It's still way to much just to spend on curiosity, I'm afraid.  The cheapest I could see, even in the refurb store, is £949.

The refurbs are as good, if not better, than new. The only difference is that you get a plain box. Apple always replace the casing and of course whatever was originally wrong with the return. The QC procedures are more rigorous with refurbs, and you still get the same warranty and option to purchase AppleCare.

But even with refurbs, there's no getting away from the fact that they are eye-wateringly expensive (especially in the UK given the weak Pound). That said, Macs do hold their value extremely well for the simple reason that Apple never drop their prices.
